After the crit....

During our crit... despite the reeeeeeally helpful.. "i'm just not going to buy tissues" from one or two of the lads haha...we did get a lot of new ideas from it. This was partly because it was suggested that
a) "tissues" sounds feminine
b) the kleenex logo itself looks very feminine
c) it was suggested that we call the tissues "'chiefs"... as in hankerchiefs... but also like... manly figureheads

On the basis of the chiefs idea... i remembered about the below designs by undoboy which I posted on my blog aaaaaages ago.... they're designed as a product in themselves.. as a figure/collectable toy in the same way that the dunny vinyl toys are. We could apply this same, changeable face/body style to our tissue packaging. We thought that if we focus more on the collectible, visual things that men seem to like buying we might be able to attract more buyers than if we focussed on the practical uses of the tissues alone. We also thought we could buy into this sort of style... also made popular by illustrators like Pete Fowler, and a lot of the eastpak bag designers that are quite simple styles but not boring or clinical...we can make the boxes appeal more to our target audience

Also someone said before the crit that they wouldn't buy tissues that were crude or "dirty" because they wouldn't want to use it... me and gemma made up a questionnaire the other day to try and work out what would make men buy more tissues so... I guess we'll see if that's the general opinion... either way this packaging idea could be adapted to suit i think :s

This illustration style is similar to pete fowlers work (below)
